Instant challenges are an important part of the DI experience, and teams should be familiar with a wide range of IC styles – whether performance based, task based, communication focused, or some combination of types. But did you know that Instant Challenges can help introduce some of the concepts teams will face in their Team Challenges as well?
A group of talented DI alumni have developed a series of Instant Challenges that correspond to the 6 Team Challenge types. These ICs will introduce your team to a wide range of instant challenge and team challenge skills. Try one or try them all! Click here to download the IC set.
Additionally, Pennsylvania DI has put together kits for teams that include many of the items required for the ICs from the set, based on this resource list. The items listed with “yes” or “In PA Tool kit” come in our kit, so no more searching for the right number of toothpicks and other random bits and pieces. And guess what….it’s free! We just ask that you cover the cost of shipping the kit to your home or school. For more information or to order your kit, please email Diana Baldi at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Pennsylvania DI is happy to announce our 2019 Skills Training Day! This will be an opportunity for teams (or those thinking about joining DI) to learn a variety of Instant Challenge and Team Challenge skills. Teams or groups of students will be able to participate in multiple instant challenges of different types, as well as sit in on workshops teaching such skills as improv/thinking on your feet, script writing, and performing. Teams will end the day by participating in a “challenge read through” with their challenge master or other challenge expert – this is a great opportunity for teams to develop a better understanding of their selected challenge!
The training will be Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM (and lunch will be provided). The training will be held at Bethel Springs Elementary School, 3280 Foulk Rd, Garnet Valley, PA 19060.
The training is FREE to any team who has a valid 2018-2019 membership number. If your team has not yet purchased your membership number, or if you are coming just to find out more about the DI experience, there will be a nominal fee of $5 per person to cover the cost of lunch.
If you are planning on attending, please REGISTER HERE; while registration is not mandatory, we ask you to use this to let us know you are coming by January 10th to ensure we have enough supplies and food. Please contact Andy Pickett at email@example.com if you have any questions.
Pennsylvania DI is pleased to welcome 2 new programs to the PADI family: Athens Area School District in Athens PA (Tioga County) and Garnet Valley School District in Garnet Valley (Chester County). We are excited to have them as we continue to grow the program here in PA.
A special “congratulations” to Athens Area School District, who was the first program to purchase their team number for the 2018-2019 season! However, it’s still not too late to join in on the fun! Please contact us if you are interested in starting a team for this season and joining these two programs!
In May of 2018, Pennsylvania DI took home the Destination Imagination “Extraordinary Growth and Impact” award – and not just for the first time, but for the second year in a row!
This award is a testament to the tremendous growth of the program in Pennsylvania over the last several years. In 2016, PADI had less than 10 teams…in 2018, we had 33 teams, and held the largest PA Affiliate Tournament in many years. We appreciate the hard work of our Board of Directors, our volunteers, and especially the coordinators and team managers who have helped us make this growth possible. We look forward to growing the program in the years to come, and are excited every time we see a new team or school experience the value that DI can bring.
If you or someone you know might be interested in starting a team – and helping us go for our third “Extraordinary Growth and Impact” award, please let us know!
